Fall Symposium

As a 500 level student, one of the first group projects that you have to do is a group composite about everyone’s personalities and connect them with a character or a group of similar objects. Some examples of characters include characters from movies like monster inc,  tv shows like the office,  or ingredients to make a cookie! This was a fun and creative way to look more into our everyone’s personalities and how we can be in a group. On the first day each student completes a survey that told us about our personality type and leadership style. We then met up with our assigned groups in which was our first time meeting. We then went around and spoke about our personalities and leader style according to the surveys we took. Each group member could hear what type of personality each other has and how we are as leaders. This was an important exercise because as OTs, we will be working with multiple different people in group settings in which it is important to know the different types of personalities and leadership styles that you could be working with.

The most fun part was that we had to think of what as a group we wanted to be and perform it. After you pick a topic, we have to relate it to our personalities and determine similarities, differences to our character and how we would contribute in a group. Then we had to make a skit in which we would have to perform it in front of the whole 500 level class including all faculty members. For this skit, everyone dresses up to get into character and it is made into a fun event where we can all get to know each other. The faculty also performs their own skit!
